The dakéshe is a fast-spreading, resilient and summer annual grass known for its slender, delicate blades and dense, fuzzy appearance.

Etymology

From Hebrew ק ַּד (dák, “thin”) + א ֶּש ֶּד (déshe, “grass, herb”).

Morphology

The blades reach up to 60 centimeters in height and measure 2 to 3 millimeters in width. Its flowers are tiny and inconspicuous, usually off-white colored and feathery in appearance.

Physiology

Resilient annual grass.

Behavior

Life Cycle

The dakéshe grows in the beginning of spring and flowers mid-summer. It reproduces both asexually (through rhizomes) and sexually (via wind-pollination).
