Etymology
From Hindi नया (nayā, "new") + Punjabi ਆੜੂ(āṛū, "peach"), literally meaning “new peach”.
Morphology
Growing up to 10 meters tall, the nayaru tree features smooth reddish-brown bark and glossy oval leaves. In spring, the tree blooms with fragrant white blossoms that later develop into velvety-skinned fruit with golden flesh.
